The Strategic Planning team has been meeting every month since September 2007.

Getting everyone involved in planning for the future of Memorial United has been a good experience. It was the intention of the team to be all inclusive, and to hear as many voices as possible. Ideas, suggestions, criticisms, hopes and dreams have been heard from many people.

Data collection to date:

*Congregational survey (55 responses)

*Official board focus group

*Youth focus group (Jr. & Sr. High School)

*Family focus group

*Choirs focus groups

*Congregation Meeting with discussion

*Administration and staff interviews

*Session focus group

*Sunday School Leaders focus group

*UCW focus group

*West District focus- Interview with Rev. Roger Janes.

*Interviews with Rev. Crooks and Rev. Reynolds

The Planning team wishes to thank all who participated in the various focus groups.  All ideas have been noted and common threads will emerge from the data.  This will enable us to move on with a “Faith to Action Plan”. Memorial United has many Strengths on which to build...

The next steps:

*To review data, develop a vision and review the mission.

*Share the vision and mission and obtain feedback/approval.

*Develop remainder of strategic plan (objectives, strategies and action).

*Share draft strategic plan.

*Review feedback and finalize strategic plan.

*Move forward!

Two events coming out of Strategic Planning were ‘Family Night’ in April; and a ‘Congregation Pot Luck Lunch with Table Discussion’ in March. These were enjoyed by all and it is hoped there will be other events.

Before the work of the Strategic Planning is completed, we welcome any ideas or suggestions.

The next meeting of Strategic Planning is June 12th at 8:00 p.m. On September 11th everyone is welcome to join us.
